Yorkshire Farming Conference

The 2027 Yorkshire Farming Conference was launched on Friday 9 October after its hugely successful inaugural event earlier this year.

David Tite, Society Manager of the Yorkshire Agricultural Society which is organising the conference, was joined at today’s launch by Tom Carlisle and Rebecca Wilson, who will lead a social media session and the NFU’s Clare Wise, who will be one of the session chairs at the Conference on Wednesday 27 January 2027 in the Great Yorkshire Events Centre.

The first event saw more than 700 farmers and workers in agriculture come together to see renowned industry speakers discuss a broad spectrum of farming topics during a series of sessions. More than 60 businesses and organisations supported the sold-out Trade Show.

Tom took part in last year’s Conference and his work to bring greater visibility and understanding to modern farming was recognised with the YAS/RABI Award for Outstanding Achievement in Farming and Agriculture at this year’s Great Yorkshire Show.

He is a fifth-generation sheep and beef farmer from the Yorkshire Dales. He runs 650 sheep and 35 suckler cows on his 420-acre hill farm with a focus on sustainability and high-quality produce. Tom shares his farming life – the highs the lows and everything in between – on his social media channels @dalesfarmer giving a realistic insight into the workings of a traditional Dales farm. Charismatic, relatable and insightful, Tom enjoys educating his audience and flying the flag for British agriculture through pictures, videos and the occasional parody song too!

Rebecca Wilson is a fifth-generation farmer, podcaster, and advocate for British agriculture, and is passionate about ensuring farming continues to thrive. Named in The Times Young Power List in 2025, she champions the role of farmers as custodians of the countryside and works to give them a stronger voice in national conversations about food, sustainability, and the environment.

She showcases the ways in which farmers maintain the landscape while embracing modern and innovative approaches to sustainable farming. She is committed to showing how progressive farming delivers nutritious, high-quality food.
Clare Wise is Chair of the NFU Livestock Board and chair of the Regional Livestock Board, North, championing agriculture at local and national level while actively lobbying the Government to support profitable and sustainable farming.
Following a career within the food chain, Clare returned home to run her fifth-generation family farm in County Durham where she farms sheep, cattle and arable. Clare has a particular interest in animal health and welfare and is also a keen early adopter of new technologies on farm. She is very keen to preserve and value traditional stockmanship skills and ensure these work alongside innovation.

The event is hosted by the Yorkshire Agricultural Society and shines a light on its farming networks – Future Farmers of Yorkshire, Farmer Scientist Network, Yorkshire Rural Support Network, Women In Farming and Yorkshire Food, Farming and Rural Network – and the Society’s work to support education and development, promote innovation and help farmers seize opportunities.
